Purpose
To provide a supportive and
professional environment in which Songwriters, Musicians,
Singers and Bands can perform live music in front of an
audience.
Who Plays
Professional
Artists who want to try out new material and
who wish to interact with other musicians in a performance
environment.
New
Songwriters/Musicians/Singers/Bands who wish
to perfect their performance skills while benefiting the
learning experience made possible by the presence of
professional artists, other musicians and a live audience.
How it Works
To Play at the Inklings
Songwriters Night - Artist must please arrive no later
than 6:30 p.m. and fill out a registration card. The card
will have a number in the upper right hand corner, when
your number is called please go to the platform as quickly
as possible.
How Many Songs? - Each performer plays 3 songs.
Solo Artists or Groups? - Musicians are welcome to
invite other musicians to perform with them. If you wish to
sing or play with a particular musician on-stage, please
check with that musician beforehand. Please do not join in
with musicians who have not invited you to do so.
Professional Courtesy - In order to maximize the
number of performances, we ask that all artists be prepared
to get on and off the platform quickly. Please refrain from
lengthy pre-song monologues or excessively long jam
sessions, which could keep other musicians from having an
opportunity to play before the evening ends. Feel free to
make a "brief" announcement at the end of your set to
promote your upcoming shows.
What about Sound? - The TSO sound tech will make
every reasonable effort to provide musicians with the best
possible sound available from the house system. Our venue
is small and the system we have should accommodate most
musicians. Our venue is small and the system we have works

Requests all Musicians to Observe the Following
All music must be "live".
No pre-recorded music.
As a courtesy to other
musicians, who are performing:
- Please be sure to tune any instrument prior to the first performance in the designated areas.
- Do not play any instrument, rehearse your singing in the cafe.
- Please do not add harmonies, sing loudly, or play instruments during another musician's performance unless specifically invited to do so by the current performer. Adding parts to a performance prevents the artist from having their music heard as they intended.
- Please refrain from socializing in the cafe while artist are performing.
